ACTIVITY SCHEDULE – Fall 2009
September, October, November, December
Guests and non-members are welcome on Club work and fun hikes. Call George (276-628-8610) or Anne (276-475-3065) for information you may need.
Work days are usually scheduled for Wednesdays and Saturdays on the dates and times listed. Additional work days are scheduled as needed. Contact Trail Supervisor, George Kilgore (276) 628-8610 (gkilgore07@comcast.net), if:
- you would like to be on the “call” list for when trail work is scheduled at the last minute to address a trail problem.
- you can’t come on scheduled work days, but would like to arrange to work on the trail on another day.
- you happen to notice a maintenance need on the Trail that the Club should address.

Location for work hikes: Since we don’t know very far ahead where we will be needing to work, emails will be sent a couple of days ahead, or call George: 276-628-8610.

13 Sunday. Potluck Picnic at Morrell Landing. Bring food and serving utensils. Dinner at 5:00. Come earlier to socialize. Soft drinks, plates, etc. will be provided. (See road directions below.)
19 Saturday. Work hike, 9:30 a.m. Caboose in Damascus.
30 Wednesday. Work hike, 8:30 a.m. Caboose in Damascus.
Directions to Morrell Landing:
Directions from Bristol: Take US 421 south. One mile south of city limits (or ½ mile south of traffic light at intersection of TN Hwy. 394), turn right on TN Road 44. Turn right at flashing light, cross South Holston River (continuing on 44). Turn right on Boyd Road. Go one mile to “Morrell Landing” and the picnic. October
7 Wednesday. Work hike. Meet at caboose in Damascus at 8:30.
10 Saturday. Fall foliage fun hike at Grayson Highlands State Park. Hike the Pinnacle trails for the view, have lunch at Massie Gap, then stay on for an afternoon hike if you wish.
17 Saturday. ATC RPC meeting at Emory & Henry with other VA trail maintaining clubs. Topics will include planning for the 2011 Biennial Conference at Emory & Henry College. Call or email Bill Hurlebaus (276) 783-7698 shadoak@smyth.net for information.
24 Saturday. Fall cleanup work hike. Meet at caboose in Damascus at 9:30.
November
4 Wednesday. Work hike. Meet at caboose in Damascus at 9:30.
14 Saturday. Fun hike: Iron Mountain Trail from Laurel Bloomery to Damascus. Meet at caboose in Damascus at 9:30.
18 Wednesday. 12:30 p.m. Club Officers, Directors, and members meet with our Agency partners (U.S. Forest Service, Grayson Highlands State Park, and the ATC) atthe Sugar Grove Work Center. Please bring your own lunch (Come at 11:30 or 12 and we will eat together.) or eat before you come to the Work Center. (If you plan to eat at the Sugar Grove Diner, check to be sure it is open.) Dessert will be provided by the Club.
21 Saturday. Work hike. Meet at caboose in Damascus at 9:30.
